Dragonslayer

It’s tough to be a freelancer… especially when what you’re lancing is a dragon!

Dragonslayer is a hypothetical coaster which pays homage to 80s sword-and-sorcery films. I was inspired by equine motocoasters like Pony Express at Knott's Berry Farm or Steeplechase at Luna Park, but differentiated my concept by making it medieval rather than western… and adding this massive dragon!

A sign/marquee is always more satisfying when it exists within the universe of the attraction’s narrative. So for this attraction's logo, I imagined that the people in the besieged castle might have sewn a tapestry for use as a makeshift sign to fly above the dilapidated castle turrets and advertise their need of a hero to any passing knights. The logo is therefore rendered in an embroidered look, with an illuminated knight slaying a dragon hidden within the first letter.
