Magee-Womens Research Summit
In 2018, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s acclaimed Magee-Womens Hospital held their first annual research summit, inviting researchers and innovators from around the world to tackle key issues around "the 9-90"--that is, how the first 9 months in the womb determine the health of a person for the next "90" years of life.
I was tasked by the event’s organizers with designing a poster to advertise the event throughout the city. Inspired by the early work of Pittsburgh icon Andy Warhol, I used abstract colors and shapes to form several objects, including a pregnant woman, the Venus symbol, and a globe. These three shapes represent the themes of the Summit, and, when viewed together, give the impression of a pear--a symbol of the fruits of both fertility and knowledge.
