Inktober 2018
Each year the grassroots creative challenge known as “Inktober” invites artists around the world to creatively respond to a different prompt each day in October. I use the opportunity to stretch myself creatively and keep my skills sharp for client work.
Tall Tale Tapestry
I created a block print-inspired artwork for the Sausalito Art Festival's “Icons of the American Worker.“ Inspired by the prompt to create artwork featuring icons of the American worker, I designed this block print-inspired piece featuring the original icons of the American Worker, the Tall Tales.
Penny Penguin
My first independent publishing project, Penny Penguin Finds Her Way Home was written by a local grandfather and based on a story he told his daughters growing up. If that weren’t sweet enough, he’s opted to give the profits to the Mario Lemueux Foundation.
Angelus Magazine: 100 Things Cover
Angelus Magazine - the official magazine of the Archdiocese of Las Angeles - commissioned me to create for them an illustrated cover within a four day window. The challenge was met and the finished product was received with great enthusiasm.
The Ol' Factory: Soap for Men
While studying package design as part of my Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Design at Chatham University, I was tasked with creating several original brands and products. A selection of my work from this course is as follows.
Created Book
I was invited to contribute both original artwork and an essay to Created Book by Likeable Art, a gorgeous coffee-table-style book full of custom art and insights by over 50 of the Catholic world's leading creative minds. I contributed two pieces - one traditional and one digital - which were featured in the book.
Boekie Boekie stArt Award
I created artwork for The stArt Award, a competition for rising illustrators organized by Dutch illustrative magazine Boekie Boekie. My work was subsequently featured prominently on the magazine's various social media platforms.
Escucha Mi Voz
I created an artwork (acrylic and digital) and was awarded out of thousands of international artists in a graphic design competition promoting human rights awareness.
D23 Design Challenge
I created an artwork for the D23 Expo Design Challenge. It was chosen as one of only 23 total finalist pieces and was subsequently featured at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA.
