Theology of the Body Institute Brand
The Theology of the Body Institute is the preeminent organization for instruction on Catholic/Christian sexual teaching in the world. In 2019, after exhausting their budget with other designers, the Theology of the Body Institute approached me to ask if I could help them arrive at a new logo and brand identity.
Animals…In…Space!
I designed these three animals for the birth of my friend’s first son, to be displayed in porthole inspired frames on the nursery wall. An aerospace engineer, he wanted his son to have a playfully-space-themed room.
Christmas Charity Prints
In December, 2018 the Pittsburgh chapter of the professional association for design (AIGA) invited illustrators throughout the city to contribute original designs that would be carved and turned into stamps for a free printmaking event for Pittsburgh locals.
Cafe Fiona
Cafe Fiona is a themed restaurant designed hypothetically for the Cincinnati Zoo as part of my Masters thesis in interdisciplinary design. Inspired by the Zoo’s famous hippo, Fiona, this eatery allows guests to eat “with” Fiona while learning about human/nature impact.
Paul & His Friends
I illustrated the book Paul and His Friends: A Child's First Book About the Apostles". Written by Rebecca Hutto and published through Paraclete Press, ‘Paul and His Friends” introduces children to the colorful characters who formed the early Church. My illustrations recast these characters as a menagerie of Middle Eastern animals.
Unworried
Unworried: A Life Without Anxiety holistically guides readers through complex psychological and spiritual concepts in an effort to help them achieve greater wellness. I was commissioned by publisher Our Sunday Visitor to illustrate the concepts described in the book with a series of prints.
Inktober 2018
Each year the grassroots creative challenge known as “Inktober” invites artists around the world to creatively respond to a different prompt each day in October. I use the opportunity to stretch myself creatively and keep my skills sharp for client work.
Tall Tale Tapestry
I created a block print-inspired artwork for the Sausalito Art Festival's “Icons of the American Worker.“ Inspired by the prompt to create artwork featuring icons of the American worker, I designed this block print-inspired piece featuring the original icons of the American Worker, the Tall Tales.
Ekernally Yours Vehicle Wrap
When the Ekernally Yours Popcorn Company needed a vehicle wrap, the challenge presented was larger than it first appeared. At that point in time, Ekernally Yours had no brand identity beyond its logo, which meant that the vehicle wrap needed to simultaneously show off a new design and appear visually similar to what had been established through Ekernally’s other media outlets (web, etc.).
Wombat Security Exhibit
Wombat Security Technologies provides information security training to companies in the information technology sector. When Wombat needed a trade show exhibit, I decided to design their booth around a comic book theme and make grand use of their 20’ x 20’ space on the exhibit show floor.
Exelon PowerLabs Trailer
When Exelon needed a trailer wrap, they originally requested a plain, electric-blue background behind their logo. I worked with Exelon to uncover their core desire that potential customers feel reassured, rather than frightened, by their service offering. With this in mind, I set out to design a clean, professional, and reassuring wrap that would also clearly and dynamically communicate Exelon’s core service offering.
Spaghetti Western Pasta
Spaghetti Western was conceived as an original pasta brand aimed to appeal to both kids and moms looking for "fun" meal options. A limited color palette and smooth geometric forms successfully evoke the feeling of classic western movie posters, while the logo—a cowboy hat that doubles as a bowl of pasta—highlights the theme.
Penny Penguin
My first independent publishing project, Penny Penguin Finds Her Way Home was written by a local grandfather and based on a story he told his daughters growing up. If that weren’t sweet enough, he’s opted to give the profits to the Mario Lemueux Foundation.
Lettie Toujours Rebrand
When Lettie Toujour decided to grow her successful floral shop into a full-fledged space- and event-design service, she knew it was time for a full rebrand. I walked her through the creation of a full visual aesthetic and brand package that represents her vision, values, and story.
Angelus Magazine: 100 Things Cover
Angelus Magazine - the official magazine of the Archdiocese of Las Angeles - commissioned me to create for them an illustrated cover within a four day window. The challenge was met and the finished product was received with great enthusiasm.
Lent is for Lovers
I was hired to brand and design for Lent is for Lovers, a Lenten initiative run by the Dominican fathers of Cincinnati, OH. Under my creative direction, the program evolved from a simple talk series at a single parish to an international multimedia movement (website, videos, social media) with successful reach as far as Kenya.
Magee-Womens Research Summit
In 2018, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s acclaimed Magee-Womens Hospital held their first annual research summit. I was tasked by the event’s organizers with designing a poster to advertise the event throughout the city.
The Ol' Factory: Soap for Men
While studying package design as part of my Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Design at Chatham University, I was tasked with creating several original brands and products. A selection of my work from this course is as follows.
Thread International Package Design
The pattern shown here was designed as part of a packaging proposal for Thread International, a company which gathers and recycles plastic refuse in Haiti and Honduras, recycles it into cloth, and sells the product to benefit the original communities.
